Here is a guid of every map on black ops to help you improve and communitcate and win those vital games!

TIPS & TRICKS

    1. Combat Training:

[spoil]This is the most valuable way, barring the next point, to improve your game. Combat Training has most of the benefits of online multiplayer -- leveling, unlocks, money, etc. -- without one pesky element: other players screaming at you. Select a map, tweak some variables (skill level of A.I. bots, match length, etc.), and go play. The A.I. actually uses some decent tactics on its own and there's really no better way to learn map layouts, feel of the guns, and your favorite Perks before playing against real people. You can also invite friends into your session to practice some team coordination. Just keep in mind that the stuff you unlock and purchase in this mode is separate from actual multiplayer.

    [/spoil]

    2. Instant Replay, aka Theater Mode:

[spoil]Here is another way for you to refine your game: Use the Theater mode to watch and analyze your performance. Theater mode stores full videos of every match you've played for the past seven days, allowing you full control of the camera to examine what actually happened when you turned the corner and got shot in the face. You can even view the playback from any player's perspective, including those of the best player on the map, so you can pick up a few pointers.

    [/spoil]

    3. Don't Get Killed:

[spoil]It may sound obvious, but this is the best advice someone can give you. In a majority of cases, you don't want to run right into a room, hallway, or around corners. Instead of rushing into battle look down your sights when you come across any of these sorts of areas and tread carefully. Sometimes being hesitant is the best way to stop your death streak. A lot of people tend to camp in certain places waiting for you and your teammates to run senselessly around the map. Unless you're to the point where you have equipped Lightweight and Marathon Perks, only run when you're in the open.

    [/spoil]

    4. Plan Ahead:

[spoil]Think about what sort of situation or multiplayer modes you'll get yourself in and plan accordingly when creating your class. If you know you'll play tons of regular deathmatch, make a class that you love. Then create an additional class that nearly mimics it except for a few minor tweaks in the Perks area. So if you find that your enemies continually plant claymores around the map or love lobbing grenades a lot, you will want to have an additional class to combat this situation. The Flak Jacket and Hacker Perks help alleviate some of these problems.

    [/spoil]

    5. Identify Your Style:

[spoil]Ask yourself what types of guns you prefer and if your Perks and gameplay style reflect that. If you like rocket launchers don't go nuts with an SMG. Do you prefer to camp but enjoying knifing people instead? You might want to consider ditching the camping aspects of your game. Every one of us has a comfort zone. It's up to you to find yours and stick with your strengths. Only later when you become more advanced in the game could you learn to adopt various playstyles.

Array

[spoil]Combat is spread in and around the snowy communications center. Stay outside for long- and mid-range fighting, though you won't get a lot of cover. For mid- to short-range combat, head for the central building.

[/spoil]

Cracked

[spoil][spoil]The rubble-filled streets of Vietnam are a grid of open buildings and alleyways, ideal for stealth tactics, with a large mound at the center. Watch your flank when you're camping. Few areas are safe from surprise attacks.

[/spoil]

Crisis

[spoil]Fight through a Cuban missile facility built within an extravagant cave system. With hidden perches, open streets, an underground bunker, and wide-open beachfront, you have a lot of flexibility when choosing your loadout.

[/spoil]

Firing Range

[spoil]Fight through an American training facility designed for fast-paced, close-quarters combat. Mid-range weapons work well, too. Also, because of the large amount of open ground, Sniper Rifles can be effective. Just watch your flank.

[/spoil]

Grid

[spoil]This Soviet intelligence station features two interior locations for short-range classes, as well as open terrain for mid-range combat. There are lots of ways in and out of the buildings. Work in pairs or have explosive equipment.

[/spoil]

Hanoi

[spoil]The Hanoi prison camp is ideal for stealth tactics. Take aim across the gallows or camp in an abandoned guard station for surprise attack. Be cautious when moving through the courtyard. It's a high traffic area with little cover.

[/spoil]

Havana

[spoil]With lots of multi-level buildings, Havana gives flexibility in your approach. Steer clear of the open street. There are some cars to duck behind, but for the most part you'll be completely exposed.

[/spoil]

Jungle

[spoil]With lots of changes in elevation, the Jungle is ideal for mid-range weapons and high mobility. There are lots of different areas with scattered cover. Stick to the outer edges of the map and stay clear of the central creek.

[/spoil]

Launch

[spoil]This Soviet missile is good for a mid-range class, a sniper, or a Submachine Gun loadout, if you like to lurk at choke points. The platform at the map's center is a dangerous area to cross. It's raised and leaves you exposed.

[/spoil]

Nuketown

[spoil]Prepare for fast-paced, close-quarters combat in these nuclear testing grounds. Nuketown is ideal for high-fire rate weapons like Submachine Guns and Light Machine Guns, as well as explosives. Sniper Rifles are not recommended.

[/spoil]

Radiation

[spoil]Battle above or below ground in this uranium plant that's ideal for mid-range combat. You'll find plenty of cover, though watch out for surprise attacks. Activate the central hatch from switches at opposite ends of the map.

[/spoil]

Summit

[spoil]Summit's main area of conflict is in or around the central facility. Mid- or close-range weapons work well here, though you won't find a lot of camping spots to snipe. The sides can be good points to set up a surprise attack.

[/spoil]

Villa

[spoil]This Cuban estate's open courtyards have very limited cover - ideal for long- and mid-range attacks. The few main structures give you opportunities for distance kills. Watch out for close-quarters attacks in the winding halls.

[/spoil]

WMD

[spoil]The maze-like streets of this abandoned Soviet base offer a lot of tactical flexibility. This map can be good for any loadout - it has several sniping points, as well as lurking spots for close-quarters combat.

[/spoil]

MAP PACK MAPS

Kowloon

[spoil]The pounding rain and clumped living spaces give a lot of room to hide and set up an ambush. Watch every corner and keep your gun drawn through the twisting alleyways. Be careful where you step - the drop is a long way down.

[/spoil]

Berlin Wall
[spoil]
It's East vs. West with danger running straight through the middle. A combination of long roads and cluttered buildings make this map ideal for both long- and short-range dominance. Control both sides of the map and claim the Berlin Wall in victory.

[/spoil]

Stadium

[spoil]Danger lurks at every turn, and several vantage points give a generous overview of the tight spaces below. Buildings force constant CQC, with the outside giving only a little extra room to breathe.

[/spoil]

Discovery

[spoil]Discovery's open landscape offers a lot of room to set up sniping perches and flank unsuspecting enemies. The central bridge sees a lot of action, and long-range loadouts take to the surrounding buildings for a clear vantage point.

[/spoil]

Convoy

[spoil]Buildings surround a central freeway at the site of an ambushed military convoy, providing plenty of opportunity for close-quarters skirmish. Move from cover to cover and check every corner to avoid getting targeted from one of many ambush points.

[/spoil]

Hotel

[spoil]A rooftop resort sandwiched between a casino and hotel pits players against each other over long-distance viewpoints. Usable elevators provide direct access to prime sniping points. Watch the upper windows when traveling through the middle.

[/spoil]

Stockpile

[spoil]Combat centers around control of the central facility, surrounded by small buildings and narrow pathways. Watch for enemies opening and closing the metal gates when defending or infiltrating the main building.

[/spoil]

Drive-In

[spoil]The abandoned cinema's central lot gives plenty of room for ground skirmishes. Enemies often take up watch in the surrounding buildings. Scan for snipers before moving or break in and clear out the buildings for your own team's use.

[/spoil]

Zoo

[spoil]Quick reflexes are key to surviving Zoo's cramped fighting conditions. Enemies often pop out from cover at very close distances. Be ready to fire from the hip at a moment's notice. Watch the monorail for enemies racing across the map.

[/spoil]

Hanger-18

[spoil]A balanced mix of long views and mid-range street combat makes accuracy a priority. Use sights and the Grip to steady your aim, and work on your strafe firing for the upper hand in skirmishes on the open road.

[/spoil]

Hazard

[spoil]Keep your head low and watch for snipers. The surrounding perimeter focuses on the fairway, giving snipers clear views of the field. Move slowly and carefully to avoid getting taken out. Set up your own perch or exploit the outer walkway to flank snipers focusing on the middle.

[/spoil]

Silo

[spoil]Multiple pathways, above and below ground, as well as an abundance of crates and concrete cylinders give players a lot of attack options. Ambush is a constant threat, so keep light on your feet and dont stay in one place for too long.
